"The toe box rips and it doesn't drain that well. Other than that they are great. The tread grips well and they are comfortable for runs of 4+ hours."

"I only wear this shoe once a week, when I do my Friday trail run, which is usually about 10-13 miles. I've got about 100 miles on this pair, which replaced a pair of MT810br2 that went over 600 miles. I run on a rail right of way, so about half of their life they are on rail ballast (quite large gravel); protection of the bottom of my feet is the name of this game. In that role they are ok, not quite as good as the old 810, but certainly better than lighter trainers (890 I'm looking at you). Fit is exactly like my other dozen or so pairs of NB shoes ranging from 890, 980, 1400, 1600, 5000 and many others no longer made. Kinda heavy, but hey, they are like wearing a suit of armor on your feet. The sole has excellent traction and the knobs show little wear thus far (at ~100 miles, as mentioned above). I would not use them every day, they are for specialized use as far as I'm concerned. If you only run in one shoe and you're not in the mountains, get some 890s or a more generic trainer."

"This is a very comfortable shoe. Tread is great for walking on slick, wet rocks. But the toe box tore up too fast. I had walked 82 trail miles when I first noticed the tearing on each shoe. Not one to waste shoes, I relegated this pair to just walking around my neighborhood or in city parks."

"After 3 months of light use the material on top of the toe box has completely ripped across. I have seen multiple other reviews from people with the same problem. Otherwise, this is a proper shoe. I have never purchased the same pair of shoes twice, but was considering it until they started to rip. I am definitely sad to get rid of these shoes as I absolutely love the comfort and feel of them."

"this shoe is comfortable and has cool styling. It would be perfect except after 3 months I noticed a tear around the toe of the left foot. I thought it got caught on a branch or something, though it is a trail shoe and it shouldn't happen. The New Balance guy ordered me another pair, free. When I went in to pick them up today there was a lady in the store with the same shoe, with the exact same problem. She also pointed out to me there was a tear on the other side. When I looked at mine there was a small tear there also. Maybe it's a production issue or maybe NB was trying a different fabric."
