World Champion Jenny Simpson Reflects On Her Historic Victory At Daegu

Calling in from a small town in Italy to a press conference yesterday, Jenny Simpson used those words to describe her surprised, delayed reaction in the moments immediately after her gold medal performance (4:05.40) in the 1500m at the World Track & Field Championships at Daegu, South Korea last week in what Runner's World described as "the best development for elite American middle distance and distance running since Deena Kastor was winning marathons."

Team NB's Jack Bolas on the Outdoor Nationals Experience

Team New Balance's own Jack Bolas, who ran 3:38.39 in the 1500m at the Oslo, Norway stop in the Diamond League, ran at Outdoor Nationals twice during his high school years. Bolas, a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was a four-time all-American at the University of Wisconsin. Bolas was lucky enough to run both as an individual and as part of a relay at Nationals – memories he cherishes deeply. The 23-year-old answered some of our questions after returning from competition in Europe.

Team NB's Craig Miller on the Outdoor Nationals Experience

Many of Team New Balance's own professional athletes ran at New Balance Outdoor Nationals during their high school days. Included in the group is Craig Miller. Miller, an eight-time All-American at the University of Wisconsin, ran at Outdoor Nationals in the mile. Finishing third in 2004 and second in 2005, Miller took a lot away from competing on high school's biggest stage. Throughout the last 30 years, athletes have played a key role in building the New Balance brand and shaping our corporate philosophies. New Balance was one of the first athletic brands to work with elite athletes to develop better products and to communicate our commitment to running and sport. Examples of athletes that wore the New Balance brand and helped us develop better products are Dick Beardsley, Lou Whittaker, M.L. Carr, James Worthy, Francie Larrieu-Smith and Khalid Khannouchi. These athletes all articulated new ideas and needs that we successfully translated into better product.
