Team New Balance
Team New Balance Heads to the Nationals

Team New Balance will be proudly represented at the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR this week by many of our athletes.
The competition, which starts today and runs through June 26th, features the best of the best in the U.S.'s track and field elite.
Jenny Simpson will lead the New Balance challenge in Eugene, where she will run either the 1500m or 5000m. She will be joined by teammates Maggie Vessey (800m), Heidi Dahl (1500m), Lauren Centrowitz (1500m), Frances Koons (5000m), Liz Maloy (5000m), Emily Brown (10,000m) and Nicole Bush (3000m Steeplechase).
On the men's side, Jack Bolas and Craig Miller will both be running the 1500m. Miller, the 2011 New Balance Games Mile Champion, opened up his outdoor campaign earlier this year with a strong 3:37.56 in Nijmegen, Holland. They will be joined by 2-time US Champion Josh McAdams (3000m Steeplechase), Stephen Haas (10,000m), and TNB newcomer Billy Nelson (3000n Steeplechase). A 2008 US Olympian, Nelson has the fastest steeple time in the nation this year with 8:22.

I just read about where the term "steeplechase" comes from... apparently it was originally a town-to-town race through pastures and farms, etc, and it was called steeplechase because all you could see to guide you was the steeple of the church in the town you were running to.
