Get involved with the global movement: Giving Tuesday

Today, on global Giving Tuesday, New Balance and Team NB athletes are kicking off a month-long campaign to celebrate the spirit and importance of giving. For each #NBgivesback Instagram or Twitter post showing a consumer’s shoe/apparel donation to an organization of their choice, New Balance will donate $5.00 (up to a maximum of $100,000) to Good Sports and Coaches Across Continents, two organizations dedicated to helping children lead active, empowered lives through sports.  The promotion begins on Giving Tuesday and continues through the month of December.

Good Sports, which will receive up to $75,000 through this campaign, will use the funds to create New Balance SparkStart Movement Kits containing brand new sports and fitness equipment for underprivileged kids across the United States. Coaches Across Continents will receive up to $25,000 to fund its programs that use sport as a vehicle to create self-directed learners who can identify, address and solve problems in their communities. The promotion begins on Giving Tuesday and continues through the month of December.

To launch the campaign, New York outfielder Curtis Granderson visited New Balance’s world headquarters in Boston today to announce a donation and encourage consumers to join the effort. Other Team NB members including track and field athletes Jenny Simpson, Travon Bromell, and Emma Coburn; tennis star Heather Watson; and baseball players Francisco Cervelli, Evan Longoria and R.A. Dickey will be posting their own photos throughout the month of December to spread the word to their fans and followers about this simple and easy way to turn an old pair of shoes into a tangible way to help children discover their love of movement.

Join the movement!

1. Select an organization or donation point of your choice.

2. Take a photo of yourself with the shoes you're donating.

3. Post it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #NBgivesback.

Photos posted between December 1-31 will be counted towards the total donation. Consumers can track the campaign’s progress by searching with the hashtag or following @NBgivesback on Instagram.
