Years as a Survivor: 1 year
I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ right after my 42nd birthday. I had a tough decision to make keeping my small son in mind. I opted for a bi-lateral mastectomy even though only my right breast was affected. Removing my breasts saved me from chemotherapy, radiation and years of medication. It was a hard decision and sometimes I look back and wonder if I made the right choice...time will tell.
How are you involved in the fight throughout the year?
I make donations and involve myself in local activities. I purchase items benefitting breast cancer year round.
