X-treme' Cross-Training: The Category of Focus for

March 23, 2000

March 23, 2000 - The Kids category, a major focus for New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc., will have increased offerings in its popular X-treme Cross- Training segment for late Fall 2000. An all-new style, the KX755 will be introduced in September, and a color-up to the KX891 will hit retail shelves in October.

A take-down from the adult line, the Kid's 755 is an aggressively styled cross-trainer comprised of a one-piece synthetic/mesh upper with reflective piping along the eyerow. The technology package includes ABZORB® in the heel for shock absorption, C-CAP® midsole for cushioning and flexibility, and a non-marking rubber outsole for long-wear durability. The 755 will be available in pre-school and grade sizes.

The KX891Y, with a black and white fade mesh treatment, is the second color-way of this top-of-the-line Kids cross-trainer. Like its counterpart (the blue and white KX891B), it features ABZORB® in the heel for shock absorption, Stability Web® in the midfoot for torsional control, and a non-marking rubber outsole for long-wear. The 891Y will be available in infant, pre-school, and grade school sizes.

According to Lisa Perry, Product Manager, Kids, "X-treme cross-training has been a very popular segment within Kids. The addition of the all-new 755 and the second color-way of the 891 will only broaden this already strong category."
With growth of over 100% in 1999, NB Kids (and its popular X-treme cross-training series) will continue to be an area of focus for the company in the years to come.
