BOSTON, October 3, 2001 - For Spring 2002 New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. will reinforce its commitment to racing by updating its competition footwear line to meet the high performance requirements of today's track athlete.
For January 2002, New Balance will introduce the brand-new RC240 racing comp suitable for marathon distance. This responsive racing shoe features Abzorb® cushioning in the heel and forefoot for maximum shock absorption, a C-Cap® midsole for lightweight cushioning and flexibility, and a carbon rubber outsole for longwearing durability. The asymmetrical tip offers a secure fit while the outsole is perforated for increased breathability. The synthetic/mesh upper offers lightweight comfort and support and is available in an aggressively colored model of light gray with orange and royal blue accents.
The brand-new RS240 competition spike will also debut in January 2002 as a versatile shoe suitable for distances up to 5,000 meters. This "all distance spike" features a solid forefoot spike plate with seven spikes plus a blank to provide added traction as an optimal entry-level spike shoe. A C-Cap® midsole provides cushioning and flexibility. The synthetic/mesh upper offers lightweight comfort and support and features a form-fitting minimalist design that provides a sock-like construction for a snug fit. The 240 is available in two colorways -- yellow with silver accents and black with gray accents.
As with all New Balance in-line styles, all racing shoes will be available in multiple widths and sizes.
