New Balance Launches Innovative Footwear for Spring 2006

BOSTON, October 13, 2005– For Spring 2006, New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. will introduce a new line of innovative and technical footwear for the performance athlete. New Balance believes that better fit leads to better performance, therefore all in-line New Balance shoes are available in multiple widths and sizes.

RUNNING
A member of the heritage collection, the M/W992 will debut in the Stability segment of the running category. An update to the popular 991, the 992 is a technical shoe built for the mild to moderate overpronator. Abzorb® SBS cushioning in the heel and forefoot provides maximum shock absorption and an N-durance® and blown rubber outsole offers a lightweight, cushioned ride and durability in high wear areas. Available in two colorways for December 2005 and an additional color for February 2006. MSRP = $135.00

The M/W975 will launch in the Cushioning segment of the running category for December 2005. The ultimate combination of cushioning and stability, the 975 features Abzorb® EX cushioning in the heel and Abzorb® cushioning in the forefoot for superior shock absorption and stability while the N-lock™ system provides midfoot support. The N-Vent™ midsole ventilation system allows optimal airflow to keep the foot cool and comfortable and an air mesh upper offers lightweight breathability. The 975 comes equipped with an antimicrobial insert to keep your shoes from developing odors and reflective details for safety. The 975 will be available in three colorways for women and four for men for Spring 2006. MSRP = $85.00

A high mileage technical trainer designed for moderate to severe overpronators, the M/W857 will debut in the Stability segment of the running category for February 2006. A TS2™ pronation control system ensures a smooth transition through each gait cycle and a Stability Web® with an Extended Web supports the midfoot and provides exceptional pronation control. The 857 features Abzorb® SBS cushioning in the heel and forefoot for maximum shock absorption and an Abzorb® strobel sock for additional cushioning. An N-durance outsole provides excellent durability in high wear areas. MSRP = $95.00

For February 2006, the M/W845 will launch in the Stability segment of the running category. The 845 combines Abzorb® SBS cushioning in the heel and forefoot, the N-Lock® midfoot support system and a Stability Web® for unparalleled shock absorption and support. The 845 features a medial post for pronation control and an air mesh upper for lightweight breathability. An N-durance® and blown rubber outsole offers lightweight cushioning and durability in high wear areas while reflective details provide an additional safety feature. MSRP = $85.00

Trail
For January 2006, the M/W809 will debut in the Cushioning segment of the trail running category. A rugged and supportive all-terrain trainer, the 809 features Abzorb® EX cushioning in the heel and Abzorb® cushioning in the forefoot for superior cushioning while an internal shank provides midfoot support and flex control. An N-Durance® outsole offers maximum durability and the all-terrain tread outsole configuration is appropriate for both road and trail running. MSRP = $85.00

WALKING
A breathable fitness walker, the MW/WW791 will debut in the Cushioning segment of the walking category for December 2005. Equipped with Abzorb® cushioning in the heel and forefoot and a Stability Web®, the 791 provides exceptional shock absorption and midfoot support, making it an ideal option for fitness walking. A Walking Strike Path outsole stabilizes the foot through each gait cycle and reflective details ensure safety. MSRP = $75.00

Debuting in December 2005, the MW/WW557 lightweight health walker will be available in the Cushioning segment of the walking category. Abzorb® cushioning in the heel provides exceptional shock absorption and a Walking Strike Path outsole stabilizes the foot through the each gait cycle. TENNIS
New for February 2006, the CT/WCT780 will launch in the Cushioning segment of the tennis category. A cross-court tennis shoe designed for a variety of court surfaces, the 780 features an N-Durance® outsole and a rubber Long Wear Drag Tip for excellent durability in high wear areas. The aggressive herringbone outsole pattern increases traction and is clay compatible. Abzorb® cushioning in the heel and the forefoot provides exceptional shock absorption while a Stability Web® and TPU ventilation straps offer an optimal blend of support and breathability. A performance tennis shoe debuting in December 2005, the CT/WCT653 is part of the Cushioning segment of the tennis category. Designed to provide superior cushioning and durability, the 653 features Abzorb® cushioning in the heel and forefoot, an N-Durance® outsole and a Long Wear Drag Tip. A combination leather and mesh upper offers lightweight breathability. The 653 is also available with a gum rubber outsole for use on indoor courts. TRAINING
A lightweight trainer designed for the young athlete preparing for sports, the MX/WX805 will debut in the Lightweight segment of the training category for February 2006. A mid-cut, men's-only performance basketball shoe, the BB8500 will debut in the Lightweight segment of the basketball category. A synthetic leather and nubuck upper combines with a ventilated exterior TPU heel counter for lightweight support and breathability, while a herringbone outsole increases traction for lateral motion. An aggressive low cut baseball cleat for the elite player, the MB1500 will debut in the baseball category for December 2005.
