Boston, MA - Runner’s World magazine has named the New Balance 858 NBx running shoe a ‘Best Update’ award winner in its Winter 2007 Shoe Buyer’s Guide (December 2007).
The 858 is a high mileage stability trainer designed with innovative New Balance technology including Abzorb® SBS cushioning in the heel and forefoot for shock absorption, an Extended Stability Web® for additional pronation support, and an Ndurance outsole for durability in high wear areas. The 858 also features a durable blown rubber outsole and Sure-Lace™ stay-tied laces for an uninterrupted run. The NB running team made improvements to the shoe over the 857, building it on a new last and incorporating a seam-free “Phantom” lining in the upper to reduce abrasion and discomfort. One tester noted, “The inner liner definitely made my feet more comfortable.” The 858 also has additional flex grooves in the midsole for enhanced flexibility, an Ortholite insert, and 360° reflectivity. The existing N-Lock™ integrated lacing/webbing system provides optimal fit, support, and security, while an Ndurance® outsole offers durability in high wear areas. Runner’s World editor’s recommend the 858, “for runners with lower arches looking for plenty of support.” As with all in-line New Balance shoes, the 858 is available in multiple widths and sizes.
