  • Favorite Race Venue:I love the outdoor venue at Stanford! For non track events the Hana Relays on Maui! Absolutely amazing!
    Favorite Race Event:1500 meters
Favorite Training Venue:I love places with nice trails such Mammoth Lakes (Ca), Colorado Springs (Co), Monterey (Ca), or Madison (WI…only in summer and fall.) Ideally I would love to train in Colorado Springs or Mammoth (awesome trails at altitude) for the fall, winter, and part of spring and then go to somewhere at sea level in California (maybe Monterey) to be close to races and do some faster interval work on the track.
Favorite Training Session:I love interval sessions whether it's a mile worth of work or six miles of work. One of my favourites is 3 sets of [400-300-200] with 45 seconds rest after the 400 and 30 seconds after the 300 and 3 minutes between sets. You start out at 1500m race pace and each set gets progressively faster. The last set will basically be run at 55-56 second quarter pace.
Least Favorite Training Session:Fartleks. I hate not knowing how fast I am going and often blow myself up because I am paranoid that I'm running too slow.
    Favorite NB running shoe:1023's
Favorite Meal, Night Before the Race:Call me boring and a traditionalist but I love pasta. Not a big fan of eating out the night before a race though
Favorite Pre-Race Meal:If it’s a morning race I usually just have coffee and maybe a couple bites of a bagel or energy bar. For night races I try to eat a veggie sub sandwich and snack on energy bars.
Favorite Post-Race Meal:Pizza or a big fat burger or steak.
Why Do You Run?I love competing and love the feeling after completing a hard workout! I also love those days when I am running on mountain trails or by the ocean and I look around and realize life is great!
Tips for New Runners:Train intelligently hard and consistent and good things will come; Be patient; Do not rush into hard workouts; Determine your ultimate running goal and have the courage and discipline to do what it takes to obtain that goal; Its going to hurt so be prepared.
