Sponsors are National Geographic Society, 1145 17TH Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036-4688 (“NGS”) and New Balance New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. Brighton Landing 20 Guest St. Boston, MA 02135-2088 (“New Balance”) (collectively, “Sponsors”).
TERM
The New Balance Radical Reels Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) begins March 18, 2008 and ends May 1, 2008. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, May 1, 2008.
WHO MAY ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States, excluding Puerto Rico, who are age eighteen (18) or above at the time of entry. Employees of National Geographic Society, New Balance, and their affiliates and subsidiaries, and immediate family members of those employees, are not eligible. Limit one entry per person.

This Sweepstakes is VOID IN PUERTO RICO AND WHERE PROHIBITED.

In the event of a dispute, online entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Each potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsors with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
PRIZE
The following Prizes will be awarded:
a Gnu Altered Genetics snowboard, approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of $720
a Hyperlite Era wakeboard, ARV of $380
a women’s Giant Rainier mountain bike, ARV of $640
and a men’s Giant Yukon FX mountain bike, ARV of $800.
In addition, five (5) runners-up will each receive
a 1-year subscription to Adventure magazine [ARV of $12.50 each]
a $100 gift certificate for New Balance shoes magazine [ARV of $100.00 each].
WINNER SELECTION
Winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries, in the order set forth in the prize description. Winners will be notified by email on or before June 2, 2008. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, due to bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsors that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsors reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tampers with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes.
LIMITATION ON LIABILITY
Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to sweepstakes entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. Sponsors are not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants' or any other persons’ computers related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this sweepstakes.
CONDITIONS
Entries void if illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft. Noncompliance or return of prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of another winner. All prize claims are subject to verification and compliance with the official rules. In the event of unavailability, Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or comparable value. Sponsors reserve the right to change or amend prize subject to availability. Prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and is not redeemable for cash. Winners are also responsible for any income or other taxes that may apply.
By participating, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.
By accepting any prize, prize winners agree to release, discharge and hold harmless National Geographic Society, New Balance, and their partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Sweepstakes and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.
Participants agree (a) to be bound by these official rules; (b) that the decisions of Sponsors are final on all matters relating to the sweepstakes; and (c) if he/she wins, to the use of his/her name and or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation (except in Tennessee and where prohibited by law) and upon request, to provide consent to such use in writing.
All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners.
