PETER'S STORY - In January of 2008 Peter was diagnosed with Stage III Male Breast Cancer. Since then, he has undergone a mastectomy where he had 22 infected lymph nodes removed and 14 months of intensive treatment including chemotherapy and radiation. On April 8th; a day which he had marked as his last appointment for treatment, he received another blow and was informed that his cancer spread to his back, hip and ribs. However, this disappointing and devastating news only seemed to increase his will and desire to accelerate the fight and reach beyond areas he's ever been involved in.

Peter is a husband and dedicated family man who worked in a machine shop, took care of his family and tried to stay active and physically fit.

Since he was diagnosed he has done an incredible job, tirelessly working to spread awareness about Male Breast Cancer. He has done many public appearances both on local radio stations and TV news programs promoting the 3 Day as well as visiting Washington DC to lobby for Medicare rights for cancer patients. Recently he spoke at the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk and was also a flag bearer at the opening and closing ceremonies. He has never turned down the opportunity to raise awareness and spread his positive attitude.

In 2008 he attended the "Livestrong Summit" to receive education about raising awareness for cancer patients; an event he will tell you changed his life.

Ask any of his nurses and doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute that treat him and they will tell you he is a ray of sunshine. He has never let this fight get him down and can often been seen counseling patients and telling jokes while he is receiving chemotherapy. Undoubtedly, he had chosen to take this battle head on, and has always been willing to do his personal best to share his story, raise awareness and stay active in this passionate fight.

Peter truly believes he will change the face of Breast Cancer, and someday it will not be considered just a women's disease.
