Team New Balance Star Looking to Smash Mile-stones in Alaska
On Friday, September 13, Team New Balance athlete and 3:57.49 miler Jack Bolas will attempt to become the first person ever to run a sub-four minute mile on Alaskan soil. The event, which will take place at The Dome (Anchorage) is free and open to the public. The race will be run between 4pm and 5pm local time on The Dome's 400 meter, all-rubber track.
In 2013, Bolas has had a stellar season of competition, setting a personal best of 13:44.21 for 5000 meters on the track and running a 3:58.43 mile at the Furman Blue Shoes Invitational (Greenville, SC). Bolas's campaign only got better when the 26-year-old set a personal best of 3:57.49 at the New Balance Falmouth Mile (Falmouth, MA) on August 10.
Daniel Stockberger of Team Indiana Elite will rabbit the race for 1200 meters in hopes of leading Bolas to a time under the magical four minute mark.
A four-time All-American at the University of Wisconsin, Bolas qualified for the United States Olympic Trials in both 2008 and 2012, and has raced at multiple U.S. National Championships.
Jack Bolas will be racing his historic attempt in the NB5000 spike seen above, which you can read more about HERE .
