Back 2 Back Ironman Champion!
(Photos. Nils Nilsen)
With the sport's best racers taking part in the 70.3 Ironman in Henderson, Nevada this past Sunday, many eyes remained on the man who won the event just one year ago. Even with his 2 minute gap trailing the leader out of the water, Team New Balance's Sebastian Kienle of Germany was able to prove that last year was not a peak by any means. Kienle moved through the leaders on the ride and went into the bike-run transition with a 3-minute lead on the pack. Now alone and tightly wrapped into his New Balance 1600s, it was his race to win.
As the run advanced it became more and more clear that it was a race for second behind the experienced German.
Congrats to Sebastian Kienle on the big win and his back to back champion status.
