"Good comfortable shoes with a nice wide foot box. Can handle a pretty heavy load for the type of hiker they are. Problem is mine starting leaking walking through wet grass at about exactly a year into wearing them. Warranty is 90 days so I am up a creek from that perspective."

Yes, I recommend this product.
"I have owned 3 pairs of this boot in the 4E width and they have served me well. I use them for work, camping, motorcycling and for just running around town in some jeans. Comfortable and light. Just a great all-around boot. Some break-in needed for the first couple days and fairly water resistant. Buy a pair!"

"I bought these boots via the New Balance web site. Initially, I was pleased with the product. They are comfortable and look okay. After breaking them in a bit by wearing them around the house and running errands, I finally took them out for a real hike - 8 days of backpacking in the Grand Canyon. I will not do that again. The soles offer little traction on exposed rock. The toe cap has come un-glued in multiple places on both shoes. The laces are starting to come apart. This was after ONE HIKE!!! These are not hiking boots. They are clunky walking shoes for nice, sedate strolls on simple paths and sidewalks. If you want a boot that actually holds up to hiking, look elsewhere."
