"I have worn the 1005 and its predecessors for years. Great shoe. As noted by one of the other reviewers, the 1006 is NOT THE SAME SHOE. I paid $100+ bucks for a pair and played two hard sets of singles in them. My arches were in pain for two days. Will have to find another brand (ugh)."

A keeper for long hard court Tennis outings

"I have a wide foot and generally I will destroy a pair of tennis shoes in one year after playing 2-3 hours of tennis 3-times a week. I busted out of some NB 623s as they would tore out at the side seems after 4-mos. I asked NB if they had a shoe w/o the side seems and canvas construction that would wear better on hard court play with lots of stops and lateral movements. They set me onto the 4E width 1006 which I wear with "smart feet" orthotics recommended to me by a great foot doctor in Baltimore. The fit is wonderful! Not sure if its the shoe or the orthotic insert that is helping, but my feet felt wonderful after 2-hours court time. I purchased the black/silver shoe which is really quite attractive compared to the standard whites I usually get. I'll see how these wear during the year, but with the comfort I am getting so far, these may be a keeper."

    Game Changer

    - Northern MI

"I bought these to play Pickleball. I consider them to be a game changer. I did have to use the very top lacing eyelets after stepping out of one once when I was playing the first time with them. After I re-laced the top I had the best day I can remember highlighted by five straight Aces in a row in one game. I hope they last longer than my 806's they are replacing. It is great to be able to find 4X wide in athletic shoes. Thank You"

"I had the 1005 shoe and it was perfect 10 2E. But wore it out so bought 1006. Not the same shoe at all. Have worn it 4-5 times trying to break it in but can't get through one set without having to switch back to my worn out 1005. You know when something ain't broke why fix it. Bring back the 1005."

    Good to go.

    - Grand County, CO, USA

"I wore this fantastic tennis shoe right out of the box and onto the court without having to break them in. Love the comfort and most of all the toe room. Great grip on hard courts. Have worn 6 times so far. Am playing 4 or 5 days per week. Anticipate good results."

don't purchase if you have a wide foot or high instep

    - SC

"Have always purchased NB 10.5 4E court shoes and have found them to fit very well. I ordered the 1006 for the first time and it was very tight at the ball of my foot and too uncomfortable to wear. Sent it back and was told by NB customer service that the 1006 runs narrower than usual. If you have a wide foot or high instep don't order this shoe."

The 1006 men's tennis shoe that replaces the 1005 is not as comfortable as the 1005. Why did you chane something that was so good.?

    - California

"The 1006 is not as comfortable as the 1005 was. I have worn the 1005 for a number of years."

    Weird Fit

    - albany, ny

"I have always been happy with NB 806 for both clay and hard surface. The webiste info convinced me to get the 1006. I wear a 4E. Shoes are very tight in the front and very loose in the heel. To my mind, given past experience with NB sizing, this narrow-wide thing is them not my foot."

    Good Tennis Shoe

    - Naples, FL, USA

"I have worn the 1000 series tennis shoes since their inception. The shoes are very supportive with a roomy toe box. Unfortunately, for me, with my most recent purchase, I found that the top of the toe box pressed down on my big toe. First time I have experienced that with these shoes."

    Comfortable, functional tennis sneaker

    - Perkasie, PA, USA

"I needed a new pair of tennis sneakers and after comparing the info online, I chose the 1006. I have used several times now and am very pleased with the quality of the tennis sneaker. They feel light on my feet so I can move well on the court. They also are very supportive which helps to reduce risk of injury and minimize soreness of the feet. As an added bonus they look good too! If they can last me at least 6 months at the rate I am using them then they are well worth the cost and will buy again when they wear out."

"very comfortable, good traction for fast player but low arch support."

    Miserable Materials

    - Lake Forest, CA, USA

"I'll keep this short and simple: After the first week of general walking, not even playing tennis, cracks formed in the thin plastic toe cap. Those cracks are now much larger and my desire to buy shoes from someone else in the future is growing rapidly. Toe, arch, and instep are narrow (had to go 4E to fit the arch/instep) so I wish you luck finding a shoe that fits properly."

the best tennis shoe I have ever tried!!!! (I use wide 2e)

    - Florida

"Light, comfortable, fast. I was suffering from pain in my feet, my back and my heap. I can fit my special insoles perfectly and pain is gone. Much better then the 806 model. You are going to feel much faster in the court."

Most Comfortable "Tennis" Shoes I have ever worn

    - Longview, TX, USA

"Since taking up tennis again, I have been on a mission to find the best shoe. The NB 1005 series was not the most prominent on my list, but I was unhappy with the offerings I tried from other mfgs. The NB 1005 are extremely comfortable and seem to last as long or longer than other brands I have tried. I am on my 3rd pair and will continue to purchase this shoe - also the warranty is great."

This shoe feels good on my feet.

    - Columbia, MO

"This 1006 tennis shoe feels great and it gives me ample support. It also feels relatively light. I'd recommend it."
