"The NB 577 is made from quality materials and constructed with good workmanship. Ever since childhood I have struggled to get shoes that fit because of my narrow (B width) feet. These shoes fit properly and have served me for more than three years. Being in my upper 50's I now walk as my primary means of cardiovascular fitness. The NB 577 is a good shoe for this purpose. I alternate wearing these shoes with the Dunham Cloud on weekends and after work when I am doing errands, etc."

"I'm not sure what standard New Balance uses to size their shoes. In every other brand, I wear a size 11.5 (U.S.). I even have an old pair of another company's shoes in a size 11 that fit me well. When I buy New Balance, I have to buy a size 12. I own a pair of NB 609 shoes, which I believe are discontinued. I bought them in a size 12, and they fit me fine from day one. I purchased a pair of NB 577s online in a size 12, and they were painfully small; like a size small. I wore them in pain for a few days, and finally they stretched out to where I can comfortably wear them. They also claim to have a higher instep, but my feet look like they're busting out of them. The sides of the shoe barely cover the tongue. Definitely not a shoe for someone with a high instep. I will not be buying them again"

"Although the price is reasonable, this shoe has a few drawbacks. The uppers are made from low density leather that stretches over time and tears at the stretching. The toe box is grossly oversized, making the shoe unattractive and clumsy. If you like the hook and loop closure, go for the 812 shoe, it is a much better shoe overall."

"Size: 14 4E I purchased these shoes to replace my New Balance 840 sneakers (which were very comfortable) that finally wore down after about 6-8 weeks, After only a week of being at work in these new sneakers and breaking them in (they were tighter and have less toe room than the 840s), I have to say that they have been useless. I'm not sure what it is with these sneakers but they just aren't durable enough to keep my feet from truly hurting. I mean after seeing good reviews about comfort I was like, Yes I'll be able to spend $30 less for another good shoe like the 840s, but that just wasn't the case. If i hadn't already worn these for a week I would've returned them ASAP. Note: I weight 270lbs, so even though this shoe may be comfy for average people, it may not be for big and tall individuals. Keep that in mind. Final Deduction: If you're an average sized individual, give the shoes a try, but if you're 270lbs+ and have bigger feet I'd recommend the New Balance 840 cushioning shoes instead of these 577 shoes. - Justin P."
