"Only wide size clay court shoes I could find. 2E was too narrow. 4E plus 1/2 size fit. I wish the shoes were lighter and more airy for Florida."

"I normally wear a 10 1/2 4E. I needed to get a 1/2 size bigger for size. But the 4E was not a true 4E. It was way too narrow! If you need 4E width this is not the shoe for you."

"I wear NB shoes because of the 4E widths. The former 786 was a great tennis shoe. (I bought 4 pair. I wear them out pretty quickly on tennis courts.) They stopped making that model (why I can't begin to guess), replaced with a shoe that that does not fit (definitely NOT a 10 4E), is shorter in height (so less support), and of exceptionally poor quality. For the first time in 20 years - & after buying more than 30 pair - I'm forced to look to other shoe brands for something that fits. How stupid is that!!!"

"been wearing NB for decades. sizes were always the same model to model, until now. these shoes are shorter and narrower than the old 786 or 656 or 655. be careful."

"Although the tennis shoes basically fit, usually when I play wear one size larger than my shoe size. With this model it may require two sizes larger as my big toes jam against the front when I run and stop quickly causing me some pain."

"I've always been a size 9 4E but found this shoe very uncomfortable and had to return it. It felt very narrow for a 4E. Probably due to the forefoot overlays. Local stores do not have this style so I couldn't go try it on in other sizes. The web-site is out of stock in the more interesting colors and not sure I want to have to order and return several more sizes to try to find a good fit. Overall, very disappointed as it sounded and looks great and otherwise seemed to be up to the usual NB good quality."

"I had a size 10EE from last year, the red and black 786. It was a little big so I ordered a 9.5EE from this year and it is way too small. The sizing seems to have changed. The local new balance stores don't carry this model so I'll have to order both a 9.5EEEE and a 10EE from of this years model to get the right fit. Not sure I will do that."

    Lots of cushioning

    - Bonita Springs, FL

"Pros: great heel cushioning - great fit - sole works great on clay - light weight and stylish. Cons: very little arch support"

    felt right

"From the beginning, it was comfortable and offered the support needed ... no real break in period."

    Great shoe!

    - Naples, FL

"I've been wearing New Balance tennis shoes for over 20 years now. I play on clay 5-6 times a week and these shoes have performed very well on this surface. I replaced the insoles with a custom pair that provides a higher arch. Other than a low arch, no complaints. Outsole lasts forever on the clay."

    very comfortable shoe.

    - Eastpointe, MI, USA

"I wore these shoes for a few days at work before playing in them to break them in. but once on the court they felt great! very stable and have good support for the ankles. the only issue i see with these shoes is the non rubber portion of the out sole may erode quickly. wish more styles came in 4E width"
