Focused on cushioning, the men’s 786v2 is New Balance’s tennis shoe aimed at superior comfort. The reliable quality of the 786v2 uses leather uppers and lateral forefoot overlays to provide extra stability, with durability and lessened impact on the foot achieved with the combination of C-CAP®, ABZORB® and a long-wear drag tip. The non-marking herringbone outsole means you can hit the court both indoors and outdoors and play the game year round.
  • 10 mm drop: due to variances created during the development and manufacturing processes, all references to 10 mm drop are approximate
  • Herringbone Outsole allows increased traction for lateral motion and quick pivoting
  • Leather upper
  • Long-wear drag tip
  • Non-marking outsole

More narrow than previous

These run more narrow than previous models. Had the same problem with 696 model, and had to retire them to yard work. After wearing these a few times, last night being the last my foot felt like it was broken this morning. Too narrow right across the knuckles of foot. Getting two pairs of 896 today, the last model that didn't hurt. I wear a size 8 EE, and have been wearing NB for years. NB, you really have to pay attention to the width in your wide sizes, read more

I think this one runs small, we had my son's feet measured and were told an 11 would work. Sending back for a 12.

Thankfully I went to try on the 786. One year ago I purchased the 10 1/2 EE 786 and they fit great. Today I just tried on the exact same size and I could barely get them on. The store did not have EEEE in stock. I have been wearing New Balance for 40 years. Time to rededicate yourselves to excellence.

Very disappointed - Need to try it on for fit

I've always been a size 9 4E but found this shoe very uncomfortable and had to return it. It felt very narrow for a 4E. Probably due to the forefoot overlays. Local stores do not have this style so I couldn't go try it on in other sizes. The web-site is out of stock in the more interesting colors and not sure I want to have to order and return several more sizes to try to find a good fit. Overall, very disappointed as it sounded and looks great and otherwise read more

I've been wearing New Balance tennis shoes for over 20 years now. I play on clay 5-6 times a week and these shoes have performed very well on this surface. I replaced the insoles with a custom pair that provides a higher arch. Other than a low arch, no complaints. Outsole lasts forever on the clay.

Didn't fit like last years sizing.

I had a size 10EE from last year, the red and black 786. It was a little big so I ordered a 9.5EE from this year and it is way too small. The sizing seems to have changed. The local new balance stores don't carry this model so I'll have to order both a 9.5EEEE and a 10EE from of this years model to get the right fit. Not sure I will do that.

Model runs small in length

Although the tennis shoes basically fit, usually when I play wear one size larger than my shoe size. With this model it may require two sizes larger as my big toes jam against the front when I run and stop quickly causing me some pain.

I normally wear a 10 1/2 4E. I needed to get a 1/2 size bigger for size. But the 4E was not a true 4E. It was way too narrow! If you need 4E width this is not the shoe for you.
