    Some disappointments

    April 9, 2014 by | Northern California

    • Primary Activity: Walking

"I wear a 7.5 or 8 EE in an SL-2 last. My previous 2 pairs of NB have been 882 and 883, which I love. My new 840's (size 8EE) do not have the cushioning I expected, though they provide a firm platform. They are also wider in the heel, more narrow in forefoot, lower in the instep, and slightly longer then I expected. I would suggest to New Balance that they strive for consistency in their sizing, and the features of the various lasts they use. While I will keep this pair, I would not buy them again."

    Good, but durability is lacking.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"My Size: 14 4E Wore these for about 6 weeks without having more than the usual soreness at work, however after those 6 weeks they became unbearable to wear and eventually gave me blisters and foot pain. Overall I had no complaints when the shoes were in good shape, but the fact they only lasted me 6 weeks is annoying. Note: I weigh 270lbs, so that may also have something to do with durability. Final Deduction: I recommend this shoe to average weight people that want a good comfortable shoe. Only recommend to big and tall people if they don't mind the durability issues. P.S. Do not, I repeat do not purchase the New Balance 577 Walking Shoes, I just purchsed those, broke them in, and they still don't provide as much support and comfort as these shoes did. - Justin P."

    This shoe has durability issues.

"I like the style and they are very comfortable. However, I was disappointed in the shoe's durability. Most of my walking is done on concrete and blacktop surfaces and in no time the soles of this shoe were showing wear. I've been a NB wearer for years and will continue to be, but I have had much better luck with the cross trainers. I have a pair of 624's that I use for the same type of walking and they have been much more durable."
