"this shoe is going back to the store! This is an upgrade?? Awful!! Feels like I have a brick on my foot. No bend, no comfort! My feet felt tired after only running a few minutes. Went back to the old New Balance shoe...what a night and day difference. No longer a New Balance customer."

Not the same shoe as the "old" 840.

"When I previously purchased the 840 shoe in a 9 2E I was thrilled with the ample room in the toe box to accommodate my bunions and orthotics. The style changed slightly by bringing a leather piece over the bunion rather than on the side making the shoe very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I had to return them. That being said, the return to New Balance was easy. Please NB, make a shoe with a total mesh top and send more women's wide shoes to the stores to accommodate those of us with "fluffy" wide, out of shape toes and feet."

I recommend the newer version of the 840v3 though heel area is bigger than I like.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"When the 840 disappeared for a while I was very disappointed because these shoes worked well for my feet. I love walking but I have some age-related foot issues. I could walk long distances without any pain. These shoes work well with or without orthotics. So I was delighted to learn that New Balance came out with a newer version. They run a tad bigger than the earlier version. I measured my old 840 version to the newer ones and the newer ones definitely run larger. There is more room than I like in the heel area but I'm hoping that tying them snugly will do the trick and wearing thicker athletic socks. I would still recommend these shoes as they are a stable walking shoes and finally New Balance is making shoes like these in great colors. They look great!"
