With the 860v4 men's running shoe, New Balance introduces for the first time a combination stitched and no-sew overlay upper utilizing a series of smart technologies working in concert to bring crucial stability without sacrificing comfort and fit. The stability comes from T-Beam engineering, while the ABZORB® crash pad and cushy ACTEVA® LITE midsole combine to provide supreme comfort. The 860v4 also features an Ndurance rubber outsole to stand up to wear and tear.
Features
  • 12 mm drop: due to variances created during the development and manufacturing processes, all references to 12 mm drop are approximate
  • ABZORB® Crash Pad allows enhanced motion control and stability within the heel
  • Blown rubber outsole
  • Combination of synthetic and no-sew overlays
  • Medial Post consists of higher-density compression-molded EVA, located on inside edge of shoe, to help prevent over-pronation
  • 860v4

    At Impact...

An midsole and crash pad couple up to cushion and help counteract overpronation from heel to forefoot, proving stability doesn’t equal stiff.

    860v4

    through midstance...

Overpronation is further counteracted by lightweight technology and medial posts.

Breathable mesh and partial no-sew upper construction secure your foot — and add a little attitude to your run.

    860v4

    as you toe off...

You’ll enjoy increased toe spring thanks to our refined PL-12 last, plus a cushy forefoot thanks to our flexible blown rubber outsole.

Such a relief for my knees

"When the shoe store person fitted me for these after a long conversation about my foot and knee issues, I almost hobbled for the door. There was no way I was going to buy a 12mm drop shoe. I'd been running in neutral cushioned shoes mostly. I tried them on and they felt OK. A bit squishy. After 4mi I felt so so about them. After 15mi, I was happy. After a half marathon this week I'd sooner give up my left arm than my 860s. Absolutely cured my knee pains. My feet don't hurt one bit. I've put about 90mi on them and they are phenomenal. They are not as squishy as first thought. I like the ride though I'll admit they don't feel very fast. I'm not running for speed anyway, I like the long rides. My first marathon in them is 2 months away so I'm buying a new pair to keep for after I flatten these out. I don't walk around casually in these, they're for runs exclusively because the colors are too much for my every day taste. Overall a great stability shoe that relieves the stress in your knees and cushions your feet for the long haul."

Not a good choice for big guys

6/3/14 by | Cape Coral, FL

    • Used Product For: less than 2 weeks
    • Primary Activity: Walking

"I bought this shoe because of the T-Beam feature and the fact it is a light shoe. I found this shoe to run narrow. I ordered my regular size of numerous previously purchase NB shoes but my foot was bulging over the sides. I wear a 12 2E so when I find a shoe that works for me I stay with it. I like the 840V2 but they seem to wear out quickly. If they had a T-Beam that would be great. I guess I will get another pair of the 840v2's."

    Pleasantly Surprised

3/16/14 by | Huntsville, AL, USA

    • Used Product For: 2-4 weeks

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"215lb runner completing my first year of running. I have a wide foot, high arch, and over-pronate so I need a stability shoe with inserts - I prefer Superfeet. My first pair of "other brand" gel sole shoes started giving me problems after about 200 miles and at the beginning of training for my first half-marathon. I have a wide foot and needed new shoes immediately but my running shop did not have "other brand" in stock in 2E so I gave these a try. I was not used to the steeper drop so the first couple of runs felt a little funny - I definitely tend to have more of a mid-foot strike in the 860 as compared to my prior gel shoes (the 12 mm drop, maybe?) and feel a little tenderness in the ball of my foot but I am running 10-12 mile long runs on the weekend and 15-18 miles during the week which is double my prior training regimen so at this point I'm writing it off to increased workload. I am now running this shoe in direct comparison to brand new other brand GT-2000 gel and prefer this shoe almost daily, especially for longer runs. I'm 60 miles into these shoes & hoping to get more than 200 miles from the 860's."

    Great 1st Impression

"The 860v4 is the first pair of running shoes I purchased from New Balance. They felt great right out of the box and with 60+ plus miles feel like they are getting more comfortable. I have a semi-wide foot and the D width seems to be a perfect fit. I am 195lbs and average in the range of 15 - 20 miles per week. Today my run of 5 + miles was on snow packed roads from all the snow we've had in the North East. Although I had slow down my pace the 860v4 seemed to have good traction. I will definitely be getting another pair in the near future and would hope that NB does not make any drastic changes in future models of the 860. I am also proud that they are "Made in the USA"."
