"I am on my third pair of these shoes with each making it about 500 miles before I retired them to shorter runs. They took pretty good pounding with running on mostly cement and blacktop."

"I bought both 860 v2 and 3 with no issues. Went to get new shoes as I run about 10 miles a week and these hurt my feel. Hurt my heels and my toes went numb. Same size and same width as before. Hope V5 is better"

"My review is solely based on the comparison with previous versions of the 860, which I've been wearing for years. I have flat feet and need a shoe without much arch support. This version has way too much arch support and it hurts to walk, let alone run, in these shoes. I'm disappointed and am worried I'll have to find a new shoe."

"Total comfort right out of the box! It was like putting on my most comfortable pair of slippers. The cushioning and stability of this shoe is evident from the start. I have a very average foot...size 8.5, average arch, neither narrow nor wide, and I'm a neutral runner. These shoes are perfect! I previously ran in minimalist Saucony shoes, but my knees were starting to hurt. I was introduced to the 860 (v2, I think), when I won a pair as the top fundraiser for a Komen Half Marathon. They sat in the box for a few months because I never thought I'd move away from my minimalist shoes, but one day I finally decided to give them a whirl and almost instantaneously, my knees felt better, and I've been a New Balance 860 fan since then. I can't imagine ever running in any other shoe! Just got the 860 v4 this week and already clocked 10+ miles on them and they are so comfortable! I am going to order another pair very soon. I currently have the purple color and they are just as good looking as they are comfortable! Way to go, New Balance!"

"Due to long painful runs in the military, I decided to break down and purchase a pair of expensive tennis shoes. I went to a running store, and they decided that this tennis shoe was the one for me. I tried it on, and it was comfortable at the time, so I bought it. When I conducted long runs, I realized I made a horrible mistake with this running shoe. I started running flat footed, and that is a no-go for someone who has high arches like me. The bottoms of my feet now have tender bumps on them, my feet swell up in the shoes, and my inner calves have sharp pains shooting up my legs. I tried so hard to correct my running with these tennis shoes, and it honestly got way worse than before I bought them. I also noticed the shoes did not absorb much impact, and were not really as comfortable as I originally thought. Every time I slipped these running shoes on right before physical training, I knew it was going to be a very long and painful workout. I really wanted to like this shoe, I really did. But, it just didn't work for me... not even as a walking shoe."
