Odd wearing near ankle with 880v5

    1/27/16 by | owego, ny

    • Used Product For: 2-4 weeks
    • Miles with Product: 20+ miles
    • Avg Miles Per Week: 20+ miles
    • Primary Activity: Running

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"A couple years ago I decided to get off the couch and go running. A running store analyzed my stride and of the choices I selected NB 880v2. Since then I have gone to v3, v4 and now v5. I have a noticed an odd wearing at the top of the shoe near the inside of my ankle with the v5. I don't think I have more than 40 or 50 miles on the shoe yet. Is the cushioning thicker with v5? Is it cut differently? It kind of looks it. Is it my ankle bone rubbing? No blister. No discomfort. I was considering sending pictures to NB for an opinion. My feet feel fine. Running is not affected. I still am satisfied with the performance. My only worry will be how long they will last if the cushioning is getting frayed already."

    Excellent Running Shoes, 2nd Pair

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"These are the best running shoes I have ever owned. I just bought my 2nd pair of 880V5 and my 5th pair of New Balance 880's over all. Each version of 880's has gotten better and New Balance has worked to improve a real fine shoe. These shoes wear real well, have great support, as a12D they are true to size, very comfortable and fit like a glove. I have found that the insert that comes with the shoe works fine and I have not needed any other support. I use these shoes for run/walking and at the gym on a very frequent basis."

Not quite what I hoped for

    10/26/15 by | Houston, TX

"I have a slim foot and slightly longer foot than 12, so NB was one of the few alternatives. However, the step off of this shoe is not smooth and the rubber is a bit too hard. I tried different orthotic inserts and finally found one that makes it work able but still not what I prefer. Also, I am a fast walker. For someone who needs a half size shoe larger than 12(No one else does 1/2 sizes above 12), and who is a slow or medium paced walker, this shoe may be more to their liking. With the hard rubber this shoe has, it is somewhat better for on dirt rather than concrete. All in all, I would rate it 75 out of 100."

"I'm an avid runner and a huge fan of New Balance running shoes, particularly the 880v5. I used to run in the New Balance 840's but since that model is now discontinued I had to find a new shoe to run in. The 880v5's are great! They feel even lighter than the 840s and also seem to have better cushioning. I love these shoes! Hopefully, they won't discontinue this one for awhile."
