    Great shoe with issues

    10/13/14 by | Denver, CO

    • Used Product For: 8 or more weeks

"I will say the 910 is a super comfortable shoe. I really like wearing it for street and trail use. Its my go to when I don‘t put on my Minimus shoes. And I really like the styling. The dark grey with orange highlight color way looks good. But the shoe has a major issue. After about half a dozen wears, the outer fabric covering the toe box started to tear. This happened on both shoes at the point the flexes or creases when you walk. I couldn't believe how fast these shoes fell apart, especially considering the cost. Of course I had thrown out the box and receipt, so I was stuck with them. Do I still wear them, yeah sure if I‘m doing something where I‘m not concerned if they get messed up (i.e. cutting the grass, riding my bike on trials after a rain, etc). But seriously I expected a lot more wear out of a pair of shoes that didn't see much if any strenuous use. Also, what I assume is the rock guard in the footbed squeaks or makes grunting sounds a lot. It sometimes feel like and sounds like something sticky is stuck on the bottom of my shoe. Good try NB, but this one needs some serious updating. If the problems were fixed and a water proof/resistant option were available I would seriously consider buying them again."

Would be a great shoe if the toe box didn't rip

"The toe box rips and it doesn't drain that well. Other than that they are great. The tread grips well and they are comfortable for runs of 4+ hours."

    Good for training on trails

"I only wear this shoe once a week, when I do my Friday trail run, which is usually about 10-13 miles. I've got about 100 miles on this pair, which replaced a pair of MT810br2 that went over 600 miles. I run on a rail right of way, so about half of their life they are on rail ballast (quite large gravel); protection of the bottom of my feet is the name of this game. In that role they are ok, not quite as good as the old 810, but certainly better than lighter trainers (890 I'm looking at you). Fit is exactly like my other dozen or so pairs of NB shoes ranging from 890, 980, 1400, 1600, 5000 and many others no longer made. Kinda heavy, but hey, they are like wearing a suit of armor on your feet. The sole has excellent traction and the knobs show little wear thus far (at ~100 miles, as mentioned above). I would not use them every day, they are for specialized use as far as I'm concerned. If you only run in one shoe and you're not in the mountains, get some 890s or a more generic trainer."

    Faulty Product

4/23/14 by | Round Rock, TX, USA

    • Used Product For: 8 or more weeks
    • Primary Activity: Walking

"This is a very comfortable shoe. Tread is great for walking on slick, wet rocks. But the toe box tore up too fast. I had walked 82 trail miles when I first noticed the tearing on each shoe. Not one to waste shoes, I relegated this pair to just walking around my neighborhood or in city parks."

Rips in material on toe box.

3/26/14 by | Tacoma, WA, USA

    • Miles with Product: 11-15 miles
    • Avg Miles Per Week: 0-5 miles
    • Primary Activity: Walking

"After 3 months of light use the material on top of the toe box has completely ripped across. I have seen multiple other reviews from people with the same problem. Otherwise, this is a proper shoe. I have never purchased the same pair of shoes twice, but was considering it until they started to rip. I am definitely sad to get rid of these shoes as I absolutely love the comfort and feel of them."
