"I bought these for light hiking in the Southern California coastal hills. They performed very well. We had a rare rain the day before and the trail was wet and muddy. My feet stayed completely dry! The triangle tread gave good uphill and downhill traction. The only downside is that these RUN SMALL (heel to toe)! I am a Woman's 6.5 Medium. I order a 7M for expansion room. I had to order a 7.5M in these. I felt that I could have gone to an 8M, but my heel would have begun to slide."

    light weight, good traction, waterproof

    - Seattle

"Didn't see a woman's waterproof trail runner in D width on the New Balance website so I emailed to the Contact Us address. I got a quick reply and ordered the shoe. Just what I needed. A half size shorter might have done in this wide width but I am happy and my toes are happy."

Worst pair of New Balance I've ever owned

    - Warrenton, NC 27589, USA

"First off I ordered these in wide because I wanted to wear them to work and wear two pairs of socks. I ordered these on line and when I received them I tried them on. Well I definitely couldn't get them on with two pairs of socks. So I was immediately disappointed but decided to give them a chance anyway. Well I wore them to work 3 days in a row and my feet physically hurt from them. If I could return them I would. There's not enough cushion, the wide size is narrow. Ive always bought new balance and this is the first time I've ever been disappointed. What else is upsetting is that as much as these cost and now I can't wear them. I'll continue to buy new balance but will make sure that if I don't like the fit I'm immediately returning them. Now I'm stuck with an expensive pair of shoes that I can't wear."

    Too Small

    - New Orleans, LA, USA

"I was really excited to see these shoes with the waterproofing. I spend quite a bit of time in New Orleans where I do a lot of walking and it rains almost daily. I love the comfort of New Balance and thought these would be perfect for comfort and dry feet. I was very disappointed with the sizing, I bought my normal size, but they were simply too small. My toes touched the front of the shoe. I had to return them and am afraid a 1/2 size up will also be to small and a full size up may be too big. I'm going back to the 990's which never fail for fit or comfort, I just wish they were waterproofed."

    69 and still running

    - New Haven, CT, USA

"I am not actually a runner but I have this shoe in the W width to accomodate my aging feet and orthotics. They are the best shoes I have. Unfortunately the gore-tex lined version is just a bit smaller all around and even with a half size larger my toes aren't as happy as in the identical non waterproof version. I am keeping them because they are cute and do better than many others. And need the waterproof feature"

    - Peoria, IL, USA

"Comfortable , may not be quite as roomy as the older model in terms of depth , but remains my first choice for this kind of shoe.yz"

    Superb waterproof, comfortable shoes

    - Olympia, WA, USA

"Walked 4 miles in monsoon rain - when I got home, feet were dry. Gore Tex fabric is comfortable, breathable and works to keep out the "wet" - great shoe!"
