"i bought the 996 shoes to give new balance a shot. i wanted to break away from the traditional big boys.however these shoes might not be for everyone. the reviews for these shoes. have been mixed. i personally like them because they are different. i'm a tennis instructor, so i just use them on the tennis court, but on the court, they are stable and sit very low to the ground, i'm hoping new balance will add these shoes to their custom made lineup."

"Despite less durability compared to other shoes, they really aren't meant to. These are incredibly light and low to the ground. Great comfort and traction. I will buy these again."

    Poor tread life

12/3/13 by | St. Louis, MO

    • Used Product For: 8 or more weeks
    • Primary Activity: Other

"Great comfort, fit & play, but wore out after 3 mos. Hole by big toe on serving side (my right foot). Tread life has been a long time issue with New Balance for me, but I keep coming back because it's the only true wide size and so comfortable. Been a NB buyer for 20+ years, first with running shoes now with tennis."
