Agree with prior comment - this shoe in EE runs narrow. That being said, I use them with very thin ASICS running socks and they are light weight, have good cushioning and are very maneuverable. The fit is not true to size in width.
Thanks for the input and we are glad you like the shoe overall. We wanted to clarify: the width is definitely true to size (we use uniform measurements in our manufacturing - a 2E midsole unit would be the same across every style we make). So, why the snug feel? Fit is determined by several factors - the width of the shoe, the materials used in construction, and perhaps most of all, the shoe last used. The shoe last, which is basically a foot model, lends certain fit characteristics to the finished product. Some of our shoe lasts will offer a deeper toebox, others lend a narrower heel fit, while others, such as our PL-1 shoe last used with this MC900, provide a streamlined athletic feel. Many of our longtime court shoe wearers have enjoyed the PL-1 lasted 900 model. The shoe has a contoured toe box area and a greater heel to toe height ratio which results in an improved foot strike. It's that perfect marriage that results from our Total Fit™ concept: your foot and your shoe should be as one. It sounds like you have been able to receive excellent performance and we appreciate your word of caution here. The PL-1 last is specifically designed to offer a preferred athletic fit and most wearers should enjoy it. Please know that our Fit Specialists are always available to offer first-person advice.

by far the fastest/best shoe produced by NB for tennis, with this one killing caveat..IT IS TOO NARROW. i have CT1004s in 2E width and they are fine, these shoes at 2E absolutely CRUSH my feet. Pity, i much prefer the shoe, but cant wear it..just too narrow across the foot and toebox. If they made this shoe wider i'd buy 10 pairs and store them up.

We were sorry that the shoe did not fit. The overall fit of a New Balance shoe is heavily dependent on the shoe last used during construction. A shoe last is a foot model we use that helps us create our Total Fit™ experience. Some shoe lasts are designed to create a deeper toe box in a finished shoe. Others may feature a more narrow heel, or a wider forefoot. The goal is to provide you with the best overall fit in the industry. We used our new PL-1 shoe last on our 900 court shoe, and it's specifically designed to offer a more athletic fit and feel. It's a streamlined shoe ready to move with your foot and provide support with each plant and pivot you make. Though most customers won't need to make a sizing adjustment to wear this enhanced model (after all, our PL-1 shoe last should actually provide a benefit), in your case a size adjustment might be the solution. Let's chat together as we feel strongly that once you find the right fit in this shoe you will absolutely love it.

I went to the 900s from the 1003s (never got to the 1004) and love them. I actually like the slightly narrow toe box because that area tends to get stretched anyway. I stocked up because it looks like these are already being closed out. Only minor complaint for me is the toe reinforcement a previous reviewer mentioned. I did replace the insoles with some that have air pockets in the heel, but was also using them with the 1003s and still had extremely sore achilles tendons after playing. With the 900s, just a little ache after playing a solid 90 minutes of singles--and my legs aren't as tired overall. Good shoes for me, and I'm in my mid-40s.

I LOVE this shoe with one exception. The toe cap is sewn to the body of the shoe. I drag my toe slightly when serving. The threads wore through on top and now the toe cap has separated from the shoe, leaving an unsightly/irritating hole. I will have to replace this shoe long before the sole wears out. So if you drag a toe when playing, you might want to consider this issue. Otherwise, the shoe is great. Very comfortable right out of the box. Excellent stability. Excellent sole wear. Good ventilation, important for hot summer TX days on the court. Would definitely buy again were it not for the toe cap deal.
