January 1st 2010
Boston, MA -
New Balance announced today that the company has reached its goal to donate $1 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure from the proceeds of the Lace Up for the Cure® Collection.
"New Balance is committed to supporting the mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and raising funds through corporate and consumer donations, including those made through purchases of our Lace Up for the Cure® Collection," says Chris Mann, associate brandmarketing manager for New Balance. "We believe this donation can make a significant contribution to breast cancer education and research and we are thrilled to reach our $1 million goal this year."
2009 marked the company's 20th year as a proud sponsor of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. New Balance celebrated this anniversary with the introduction of a pink special edition New Balance 993 running shoe and a comprehensive marketing program that included an 8 minute video highlighting New Balance's long-standing partnership with Komen for the Cure®, a successful custom YouTube channel and in-store marketing materials.
Consumers can still contribute to the cause through the end of 2009 at www.komen.org. Starting in January, New Balance will donate 5% of the suggested retail price of sales from the Lace Up for the Cure® Collection with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The Lace Up for the Cure® Collection is available at retail year-round.
