I ran in these for a season of outdoor track. They are definetly the most comfortable and my my favorite spikes i've had. I ran the 400, 800, and 1600 in them. The only problem i had was the carbon fiber part on the bottom cracked up really bad and i dont know why. I don't think it effects my performance so ill probably wear them again next year, but it was dissapointing to see them get cracked.

It took a few runs to get used to truly striking mid-foot after wearing heel strike shoes all my life. My heel fatigued at first but is getting better as I have learned proper form. I'm about 175 lbs and concerned since they are so light and flexible that they will loose cushioning sooner than "normal" shoes. They are awkward to walk in becasue I heel strike when walking which flexes the shoes funny--they won't trantion to my everyday kicks when they wear out.

The New Balance 800's have been an excellent shoe for me. I'm rapidly approaching 57 and have had a history of nagging knee injuries. Combining the NB 800 with the Chi Running method has helped me run injury free and finally break the 4 hour mark in the marathon. An excellent shoe for all around running although I do use a different shoe for track/speed work. But the NB800 really makes a difference in the longer runs. One hint for the shoe designers...midfoot paddling is excellent and you could still put just a bit more in the heel area. As another writer has mentioned I do notice a bit more heel fatigue even with the mid-foot strike technique. Otherwise an excellent product.

This is a fantastic concept! This shoe targets such an under-served group of runners, that it's hard not to give it accolades! Having tried them on side by side and being a suppinator, I like the 800's cushioning strategy better than the Newton's. A mid-foot strike is not the same as a forefoot strike and this shoe is just perfectly designed for an outer-mid-foot striker. They are incredibly light and flexible and the cushioning is fantastic even after having just finished a marathon training cycle in them. That said, the one downside to the shoe is an intended design feature: there is absolutely no support on the medial side of the shoe. There is no contact by any part of the shoe with the medial part of the foot. It results in a bit of a boxy feel. Aside from a more formed mid- or in-sole to meet the higher arch of the runners this shoe targets, which would actually defeat part of the intent of this shoe, it's very possible that this one detraction could be mitigated by implementing a B-width shoe in this style, giving it a more fitted feel. I think I will by these shoes again, but would love to have them fit my narrower feet better.

I have to say the style was nice an clean which went great with my usual pair of jeans when im just relaxing. The 800 was great for my Very High Arch but didnt have enough cushion in the forefoot which seems to be where most of my impact happens, probably die to my frigid front area of my feet. The heel had just enough to keep the miles coming so all in all the 800 was great.
