I have never worn New Balance shoes before as I have a narrower foot with a high arch. I have never felt that there was enough of an arch for me. I love the way the 769 looks and feels (definitely narrower than the 768), but even with an additional arch support added, there is not enough support for me, especially on a long run. I have also found that as I approach 40 I need good cushioning in the forefoot. On a long run I noticed some pain and tingling in the forefoot. I think the changes that have been made are great ones and I will continue to sell the heck out of this shoe, it's just not the right shoe for my foot.
Thanks for the comments. Sorry to hear the 769 is not working for you individually, but please know that we are confident that there is a New Balance style perfect for you. Someone with a high arch typically does best with a neutral shoe offering plenty of cushioning. Have you considered our 1063 for instance? (Insoles can assist but the most advanced insole in the world would not perform if the shoe was wrong for you.) Keep in mind that our company is known for manufacturing shoes to meet the widest range of sizes, widths, and specific needs. We are glad to hear you agree that our 769 will be perfect for so many, but we'd love to discuss other style options for your own feet.

New Balance has made a huge improvement in the fit of their women's running shoes. I like the snug fit of the mid foot, the smaller toebox, weight and flexibility. I typically like a shoe that has road feel and this fits the bill, not too much plush under the foot. The quantity of stability is right for me, however I also like to feel arch support. Like most New Balance shoes I have tried this one has a flat feel. I tried adding an over the counter soft insole and that helped support my arches.

I love this shoe! I've worn Asics for running because that is what I was told to wear for running. Asics just didn't seem to fit well nor give me the comfort and suport I needed. I decided to be different and try NB. I went to my local sporting goods store and was sized, they watched me walk and then brought out about 12 pair of shoes. All different brands. I tried them all on and it came down to this pair of NB and a pair of Asics. I got on the treadmill at the store and ran in both of them and it was clear that NB was the shoe for me. I have't had any pain or discomfort. Usually my feet would start to burn after a few miles or my big toe on my left foot would get this strange pain in it and my arch on my right foot would spasm. I had none of that with this shoe. They fit every part of my feet. I love this shoe!

I use this shoe for athletic walking and it has stood the test of time. It is comfy and supports my foot well - no injuries that can be at all attributed to shoes since I bought this pair!Read More

I had previous success with the 766 and 768. However, I am having arch discomfort and friction issues with the 769. I think the narrowing of the forefoot and change in midsole makes the shoe feel "flat" almost like something is missing.
Thank you for sharing you opinion with us. While the 769 is designed to give you a more snug fit, it sounds like you might be looking for even more support. Have you tried a cushioning insole, by chance? Using an insole might give you the additional support and snug fit for which you're looking. If you have any questions about New Balance insoles, please contact our customer care team at your convenience. We're here to help you get as close to a customized fit as you can get. Thanks again for your feedback.
