When will TrueBalance or a similar toning shoe be available for men?

August 28th 2010 at 7:45 PM EST

I'll second that, Bobb!

September 2nd 2010 at 11:41 AM EST

Any chance of a narrow width for women in this shoe?

September 7th 2010 at 7:51 PM EST

can you jog in these shoes?

September 8th 2010 at 11:21 AM EST

I don't get it: I came to this page as a click through advertisement to a video, which will not play without a password.

@bobb, @EchoTango, the truebalance collection will be available in men's this coming October.

@klmcpm, as of now, we do not make these shoes in narrow (assuming you are looking for women's 2A?). They are currently available in B, and D (wide), but we will certainly pass along the request to the product team!

@El2lu, these shoes are recommended for walking, but due to the nature of the instability which creates the toning benefit, we do not recommend these shoes for running.

@ccmorton, hmm, that sounds like a bug - I apologize for the experience you had! I'll report that to the team right away and we'll investigate. Thanks for the heads up!

When will these shoes hit Canada?

September 12th 2010 at 4:24 PM EST

Nice

September 13th 2010 at 9:12 PM EST

Are these shoes made in the USA as some of your shoes are?

Thank you

September 15th 2010 at 10:57 PM EST

Just bought these today and got back from a mile and a half walk. Love the shoes. They are like walking on clouds. Very comfortable. I have wide feet and they do not pinch and are very brethable. Great shoe. Im happy with it!

@Tonya - these shoes are now available in Canada

@smat527 - Due to the nature of the balance board technology and the tooling required to make them, these shoes are not produced domestically

September 21st 2010 at 10:09 AM EST

So where are these shoes made? Let me guess - China.

September 22nd 2010 at 10:38 PM EST

Narrow feet? Purchased these yesterday. They are really comfortable. For those of you with very narrow feet like me (2A, Quad A heel) They fit me. I tried on like 6 other brands and like 20 different shoes. I walked out of the heels and/or they were to wide in the toe box. These worked for me. Try them on. They may work for you too. The last lace was a bit much for me though so I have unlaced the top hole. 81/2 B

September 23rd 2010 at 4:14 PM EST

How much do they cost, and what store can I buy them at.

September 23rd 2010 at 10:20 PM EST

Looking for the answer to questions posed by bmitchel and grovelover: Where are they made, what is the MSRP, and what stores carry them? Thx

September 26th 2010 at 7:31 PM EST

@grovelover, would you be willing to pay premium for made in the USA? I find that most people will not when they realize how much it costs to make products in our country. The USA economy is based on buying as cheaply as possible, if you're upset about Asian manufactured products, it's our own fault. Asian made footwear is extremely durable and built with quality materials, everyone complains about Asia, but no one knows the reality. You'll probably think these are too expensive, so I highly doubt you'd be willing to part with an extra $40 for them just because they were made in the USA.

September 26th 2010 at 10:32 PM EST

is there a difference between the two toning shoes??

September 27th 2010 at 11:20 AM EST

@bmitchel $84.99 on sale @ academy sports and outdoors regular price is $89.99.i love my shoes

September 27th 2010 at 10:41 PM EST

how much are they?

September 27th 2010 at 11:59 PM EST

DSW shoes 84.95

September 28th 2010 at 11:39 AM EST

Hi All - MSRP for the WW850s is $89.99 (though it sounds like some of you are finding great deals!), and MSRP for the WW1100s is $114.99.

@santamonicagirl - The difference between the two is that the WW1100s use premium leathers and materials in the uppers and the truebalance balance board technology extends a bit further into the forefoot.

@wundren et al - these shoes are made in our Chinese factories, and can be found at any of the suggested locations from community members (thanks everyone!) and at our online store, here: http://www.shopnewbalance.com/category.asp?type=WMFTTN

September 28th 2010 at 10:15 PM EST

We need higher import taxes so that the USA can compete with China to make things that Americans need. Meanwhile Americans can be hired to work at the factories so our economy wins!

October 1st 2010 at 6:15 PM EST

I wear these shoes to work out in everyday. Step aerobics, zumba etc...These shoes are great for lunges/walking lunges especially and balance moves. They are very comfortable and flexible also. I

October 2nd 2010 at 6:04 PM EST

Just wanted to say im glad New Balance is jumping on board with this. I have the reebok easytones and i like them but they just arent as comfortable as my old new balance.. i will definitely make this my next shoe purchase. and for the guys.. I know Skechers does make a mens shoe... but i think they are just as ugly as the womens!! Good luck :)

October 2nd 2010 at 11:00 PM EST

I want to know when they will be available in a NARROW (2A).

October 6th 2010 at 10:32 PM EST

Why are products so expensive if they are made in America? I try to buy as much American made products as I can. I bought light bulbs and a door mat today.
I wish these shoes would have been available at the beginning of summer. My hiney would look awesome with all the push mowing I do. I plan on buying a pair the next time I go to town. I didn't like the looks of the other shoes for walking. I'm glad these look normal.

October 7th 2010 at 7:18 PM EST

hi, nice

October 7th 2010 at 9:42 PM EST

i need the one that has the normal sole to be a black laceup leather shoe for work where i do most of my walking. is this likely to happen? i guess new balance only make sports shoes. also i have lower back pain will the shoe likely help or make it worse?

October 8th 2010 at 3:36 AM EST

****'s Sporting Goods website advertises the 1100 as a running shoe.
For what I understand they are NOT meant for jogging or running. Or is the 850 for walking and the 1100 for running?
I really hope so...

October 9th 2010 at 6:00 PM EST

where did my comment go ann marie angelwisdom2857

October 9th 2010 at 7:24 PM EST

Has anyone experienced any lower back disconfort with these toners?

October 11th 2010 at 7:04 PM EST

I have achilles tendonitis and wanted to know if these would help to stretch that tendon (safely).

October 12th 2010 at 2:29 PM EST

Finally, a toning shoe that doesn't look like some hideous Herman Munster shoe. Thanks NB, I am really looking forward to trying these.

October 13th 2010 at 3:21 PM EST

@?,/ when you make your comment about Americans being hired in our national factories, do you mean persons born, or naturalized, or residing in America... or you mean Caucasian looking and sounding people?

October 14th 2010 at 8:15 PM EST

I would be more likely to purchase these if they were made in the U.S. At least some of the unemployed people here would have jobs instead of everything being given to China, India and the Phillipines.

October 15th 2010 at 12:47 AM EST

I work as a sales associate for Brown shoe company especifically for the Famous Footwear brand, and need to sell toning shoes. My store carry both ww1100 and the 850. All associates have to sell a toning shoe of a certain brand. One of my co-workers has been experiencing the reeboks easy tone and run tone. I have also experienced the reebok run tone for man, but I did not like them at all. I think the New Balance could be better than those, but I still waiting for them to be available in man. If you could give me more information about those shoes, and all new balance sneakers, I will be more than glad to recommend, advertise and sell new balance more than other brand.
Thank you

October 15th 2010 at 9:51 AM EST

Just wondering if and when the mens version is coming to Australia. Cheers

October 17th 2010 at 12:49 AM EST

I just bought a pair of the True Balance shoes and a m a bit concerned with a comment about "instability". I am 69 and walk a lot but I do have knee issues which flare up at times.Instability makes me nervous. Theclerk who sold me the shoes didn't seem to know that much about them so am thinking you could perhaps help me.

October 19th 2010 at 2:30 PM EST

is there going to be a different colors to them?

October 21st 2010 at 1:24 PM EST

@JP - I believe the instablity they are talking about is the structure of the shoe is NOT designed for running purposes. I don't believe they are saying that the product is unstable. There are shoes designed for running purposes...support is in different areas as opposed to a walking shoe. These shoes should serve your purpose.

October 25th 2010 at 1:17 AM EST

Hi New Balance!

I was in a store last week trying to buy the Truebalance WW850, I had the idea that these shoes tone your muscles while walking, but one of the sale associates from the store told me that these shoes only work for running, and if I used them for walking I would not get the effect they promise. So he said that I would be better off with the easytone because these tone your muscles while walking.
I was checking your website for information, my question is if this specific model the Truebalance WW850 is a toning shoe that will tone muscles while walking like it says in the promotional ad:
Increases calorie burned. Increases quad muscle activation. Increases gluten muscle activation. Hamstring muscle activation and calf muscle activation.
I would appreciate any information you might have on this shoe, since I do not run.
Thank you!

October 26th 2010 at 12:53 AM EST

alot of unanswered questions, who is monitoring this site NEW BALANCE!!!!

October 26th 2010 at 5:14 AM EST

I suffered a grade 3 ankle sprain last year and am interested in these shoes. My question is, would these shoes simulate walking on a narrow balance beam? I am trying to determine if they would be stable enough for may ankle now that it is healed, or if I would be running the risk of spraining it again...

October 26th 2010 at 11:23 AM EST

@Sherry - I spoke to our product manager and at the moment we do not have plans to offer these in narrow widths, but she was happy to hear there is interest and will consider that for future releases. Thanks for the request!

@jenz - Great news! We recently released a version of this shoe with an all black leather upper (http://www.shopnewbalance.com/newbalanceWW1100BS.htm?CLT1=WW1100KM&recs=WW1100BS). Hope this helps!

@Violet - I had trouble finding the place on ****'s Sporting Goods' website where these are listed as a running shoe, but wherever it says that, you're right, it's incorrect. These shoes are designed only for walking, not running.

@anglewisdom2857 - I'm not sure what happened, but there could have been a glitch when posting your comment - would you mind posting again?

@Bethyboo, @jenz, @Tommy, @adamssoulmate, @JP - Unfortunately I can't speak to any medical questions, but would definitely recommend consulting your doctor before using these shoes if you have any concerns about prior injuries. Everyone reacts differently to these shoes based on different body types, so your doctor will be the best person to ask about how they might affect you and your specific needs.

@Daniel269 - Thanks for your interest and support! We just recently released these shoes in a men's version. We are working to get this information up on our site, and I will send you a link as soon as it's live.

@JP - We'd love to hear what you're experiencing with these shoes. They are purposely designed to provide an unstable platform to help activate muscles in your legs, and strengthen them over time. However, if you require a stability shoe, your best bet would be to get a traditional walking shoe. Our customer service team could help with a recommendation if you would like one (800-595-9138, M-Sa 8am-8pm EST)

@meagan - Absolutely! There are several different colors available in both the 850 and the 1100. If you click on the products above, and then when you're on the product page, click on the color squares in the top right corner of the product photo, it will change to show the various colors. Hope this helps!

@jlr - You're correct, these shoes are NOT designed for running, only walking. However, they are designed to provide some instability to help activate muscles.

@Sofia - Would you mind sending me a message on my profile (http://www.newbalance.com/live/RunKellyRun/#/messages) to let me know at which retailer you had this experience? The information they gave you is incorrect, and we'd like to make sure they have the right info on these shoes. These shoes are not designed for running, they are designed for walking, so they would absolutely fit your needs.

Thank you to everyone for the great conversation!

October 26th 2010 at 6:07 PM EST

Sure hope you'll be getting narrow sizes for women! That's why I ONLY buy New Balance athletic shoes of all types, because they FIT me!

October 27th 2010 at 3:03 PM EST

I have had these shoes for two weeks and having been wearing them for 1-2 hours daily. They are very comfortable when wearing them, however, I am experiencing foot discomfort when I take them off. Can anyone tell me if this is a conditioning issue or if I should be taking them back to the store before I can't wear them anymore?

October 28th 2010 at 12:59 AM EST

Would either the 850 or the 1100 be ok to wear for aerobic workouts, for example workout videos, etc?

October 30th 2010 at 9:10 AM EST

I ordered the Susan B. Komen ones and couldn't be happier! The fit is great (just like it was made for my feet). I love the look of these shoes as opposed to the other toning shoes! Great purchase! Oh, and I helped out a great cause!

November 5th 2010 at 10:55 PM EST

I just saw a commercial with an actor running in these shoes - why is that so if they are not recommended for running because of the "balance board technology"?

November 7th 2010 at 3:14 AM EST

Hi I was wondering if you could tell me which new balance shoe would be better for a beginner over weight walker the 1100 or the 760. Thank you in advance.

November 28th 2010 at 1:08 AM EST

what will happen if we wear this shoe(ww850 new balance) for walking or doing something all day? is it bad to do that?

November 30th 2010 at 3:14 AM EST

it's now almost December and I still don't see these shoes for me.

December 3rd 2010 at 4:11 PM EST

I understand that these shows are not recommended for running but what about regular workouts like circuit traing, weight training, aerobics, etc.

Could you e-mail me a response? I will forget to come back and check this.

December 5th 2010 at 2:33 AM EST

@RunKellyRun You mentioned Mens versions would be available in October, was that Oct 2010 or Oct 2011? I didnt see a mens version on your website. Can you clarify or direct me to them?

Thank you in advance.

And for the next two days we are offering 15% off orders of $99 or more, and free shipping on all orders. Hope this helps!

I was wondering if one of the toning shoes you offer works better?? I want to purchase them tonight or tomorrow so if you could respond soon I'd appreciate it

December 17th 2010 at 9:56 PM EST

I have no problem buying imports from other free market economies, but try to minimize purchases from China. Fortunately here in Miami I can buy Flexi shoes from Mexico or Munro shoes made here in the United States, sure the shoes cost a bit more, but they last twice as long, making them a bargain in the end.

December 28th 2010 at 4:18 PM EST

I just got these toning shoes as a Christmas gift and I love them! My only questions is whether they are safe to use while do an elipitical or bike at the gym. I know they aren't for regular running but I was wondering about using them on the machines like the elipticial or stationary bike?

December 28th 2010 at 5:55 PM EST

December 31st 2010 at 5:26 PM EST

I just received as a gift the womens 850 truebalance shoes and I love them. I just ordered another pair.
My husband has them also.
My questions is how do we clean them?

January 3rd 2011 at 1:19 PM EST

What stores carry the new balance 850 for women? I livein a small town where they are not many shoe stores and the computer I use is a public computer in the library so I don't want to use my debit card. My zip code is 40823.

January 6th 2011 at 1:16 AM EST

Are these new shoes better than shape-ups? Are they made on the same guideline as the sketchers name brand. I am so glad a company really decided to tone those shoes down a little.

January 6th 2011 at 3:20 PM EST

@Cmir28 Apologize for the delay and hopefully you were able to purchase a pair of one of our toning shoes; Both styles have added benefits - While walking in both truebalance and rock&tone will increase muscle activation which leads to toning and increased calorie burn, truebalance offers more of a full range of motion including side to side and front to back while rock&tone encourages front to back motion.

@rebecca Glad to hear you are enjoying them! If you have the Rock & Tones you want to stick to just walking; if you have the truebalance shoes you can most definitely use them in the gym for elliptical use!

@evian - Yes, the WW850 is available in multiple colors and widths; including 2A - shown here http://bit.ly/fJvtFX

@ppeconic Glad to hear you and your husband are enjoying them! The suggested cleaning method for New Balance shoes is to use a light bristle brush (old tooth brush) and a light detergent. Scrub the shoes with the brush and use a damp cloth to wipe clean, you can also immerse them in water ( yet never put them in the washing machine!) Allow shoes to air dry thoroughly for about twenty-four hours.

@thayes - I sent you a direct message with some stores in your area and the # for our online retailer ShopNB

@jlamont - Our toning shoes share similar benefits as competitive products, but consumer testing has shown it to be the most wearable and most comfortable in Sports Research Laboratory perception tests. We are happy to hear you like them!

Hope this helps everyone; for more information please contact us directly; call @ 800-253-7463 or via email at customerhelp@newbalance.com. Thanks for the great conversation!

January 13th 2011 at 4:57 PM EST

I bought your 850 Toning Shoes recently and loved how they fit my feet. Unfortunately, after wearing them all day they really hurt my feet. I'm not sure whether I just need to get use to them or need a different type of shoe. My previous pair of shoes were also New Balance and I was super pleased with them. I just don't know if I should keep them or return them. I drove almost two hours to but them!! Would really hate to have to return them.

Hi there,
Great info given here, and my question may have already been answered, and if so, I apologize! I'm looking to buy a pair of toning shoes, and wear New Balance exclusively. I work retail, so I'm on my feet all day, every day. Is there a particular style I should be looking for, or will they all pretty much "get the job done"? Please advise, anxious to try these out! I will try to remember to check back here, but just in case, would you mind sending me an email? Thanks so much!!!

February 2nd 2011 at 3:02 AM EST

Can you run in the new balance true balance shoes or are they for walking only?

February 9th 2011 at 2:09 AM EST

I work in a rehab hospital graveyard shift I want to purchase these shoes for work would the toner shoes be ok to work 12hr shifts or should I look into a different pair of New balance?

February 12th 2011 at 8:31 PM EST

I bought the True Balance WW850, I LOVE them! They are like wearing slippers all day. I work in a factory and am walking 8 hours a day on concrete floors, I don't really notice a whole lot of "toning" going on in my legs, but I attribute that to my legs are already very toned since I've been walking 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for about 4 years. The simple fact that they are super comfortable, and cute, I will be coming back for more of these, just wish they came in lots of color choices.

March 10th 2011 at 12:44 PM EST

i got the shoes for $40 in sears

March 13th 2011 at 11:35 PM EST

PRO - Great comfortable walking shoe. One of my ankles is prone to sprains and it seems to be helping with strengthing. CON- I would not recommend wearing these shoes will performing stablizing movements (i.e., lunges), you likely be too wobbly to be able to correctly perform the movement.

April 1st 2011 at 7:17 PM EST

Can I jog in these shoes?

June 1st 2011 at 7:35 PM EST

My daughter dried my insoles in a hot dryer, now one of them is too small. Can I purchase replacements? Shoe model is the 850 size 8.5 B

Thanks!

June 6th 2011 at 9:19 AM EST

What they say about running in these shoes is true. Do not do it. I personally find these shoes to be very comfortable and attractive but 2 weeks ago in gym class I was bearly jogging and I tripped, fell, and broke my ankle. On a sidewalk...who trips on sidewalk? Not me ever! I\\\'d hate to think that my new toning 850 shoes had anything to do with it. I just got these shoes. I had only been wearing them a week before my accident and up until then I had been exercising regularly with no habit of falling ever. Concerned, in pain, and bedridden at the moment.

I own a pair of 850 new balance toning shoes and I find them super comfortable. The primary benefit I found in these shoes is by improving my posture.

June 29th 2011 at 1:17 AM EST

I own the 1100 and really love them, and I feel like wearing them has made a difference. I feel stronger, if that makes sense, my posture is better, my core seems to engage and make conscious of body in a good way. I just found a pair that I haven't seen online except in one or two places they are the WW 875 WG, I'm wondering why they aren't being promoted at all? I actually think I like them better than the 1100 (which might be more attractive) but these are very "tennis shoe" looking, cute though. I love 'em both...

July 13th 2011 at 2:35 PM EST

I wanted to add a comment I bought the New Balance® 850 truebalance High-Performance Toning Shoes
back in November 2010. And they are THE best shoes I have ever owned. I wear them everywhere. I bought them because of the fit and the fact they didn\'t have that horrible bulky look or the imbalance a lot of the toners on the market have. I walk or run a minimum a mile a day for exercise plus my gym time. I run as well as walk in them without a single issue. They support my arch where regular running shoes just never could. I\'ve even run a 5k in them without issue!! And I know there has been a recent consumer report out on toners but I will tell you, I have lost inches in my upper leg muscle and toned out my hips and buttocks in the months since I started wearing. Please do not ever stop making these shoes!!! Once I get back to work I am going to be in dire need of another pair ! LOL.

These are the BEST shoes for walking. I'm on my 4th pair. I walk 8 miles a day, 5 days a week as a mail carrier. I'm always carrying 20+ pounds and have no discomfort at all. I've always worn New Balance shoes for my job and these are the first ones I haven't had to break-in to avoid blisters. I don't even have to change the insoles for gel insoles. They are very lightweight, but very effective! I didn't even buy them for the toning, just comfort.

October 14th 2011 at 3:21 PM EST

My physical therapist told me the rock and tone shoes have caused people lots of pain, broken ankles, sprained ankles and she would not let me do my therapy in them. I had to take them off while doing stretching exercises and she would not even allow me on the treadmill. I am definitely upset with wasting my limited funds.
