"What a sigh of relief it was to finally find a shoe that feels great and performs just as well on the trail. I bought these for an upcoming Tough Mudder. I started with the Minimus 10v2's (which I found out New Balance JUST pulled from their Minimus line!) and those came close, but no cigar; not built well and not a thick enough sole for gravel on trails. Next up were the Minimus 80's; much thicker sole, but terribly uncomfortable. Just when I was about to live with going back to the 10v2's I saw these on display in the store and asked about them immediately. I guess I never tried on the original MO10s because I was drawn to the 'trail' designation of the MT10s, but these are VERY similar. As soon as I tried them on I realized how comfortable they are. The soles are the same, but the shoe itself feels like it has a little more cushion to it and I don't feel the pressure where the 'strap' is at all, like some criticize the MT10v2 for. I don't know what accounts for it, but the problems I had with running over small rocks on the trail are not apparent with these. I'm really not sure if it's the sole it self or if there's a little more padding in between, but I'm able to run without dodging the rocks now. My only concern with these is that the Gortex will turn out to be a problem when I use them for the Tough Mudder. Water isn't supposed to get in, but the shoes are so low profile that it's completely unavoidable. I'm worried I made a major mistake, but they're great to train with. I really don't know why these shoes have Gortex anyway, I guess it's just an easy way to make a few extra bucks. Even if you hike through a trail with small streams you're going to get water stuck in your shoes and they should drain instead of retain water. Oh well. I enjoy running in these and I hope they hold up. Side note: I should have tried on multiple pairs of the same size because the left shoe has extra material around the heel so they don't fit as snug on the left foot."
