Imagine womens' pointy toed dress shoes

"I really feel like I completely wasted my money on these. They look great, but as another reviewer noted, the toe box is extremely narrow. They kept killing my feet and I thought they just needed breaking in since they are a bit sturdier of a shoe and I went past the 30 days to return them. The pictures really do not do justice to just how messed up these shoes are. The heel is too wide and the shoe narrows sharply from there. I have a pair of the MX20v3s and love them. When held sole to sole, the toe box of the 00s easily fits inside the toe box of the MX20v3s. I don't even feel right about giving these things to Goodwill."

Good idea, but with a deal-breaker flaw

"I've been wearing Minimus shoes exclusively since the line was introduced, and I primarily wear them for crossfit. I really liked the idea of a minimus shoe with a little more cushioning/protection underfoot, and these shoes do provide that extra protection without being so squishy as to make weightlifting movements unstable. The problem is that they changed the last dramatically from other minimus shoes. These are very narrow at the ball of the foot, the toe box is pointy, and the mid foot is wide and flat. The forefoot is so narrow, the entire lateral joint of my foot was hanging off the side of the shoe. I had to order a 2E width for the first time ever, and while that got me adequate width at the forefoot, the shoe is too big at midfoot and the heel. After wearing them for a week, creases have developed in the insole at the ball of the foot area, which is uncomfortable. Finally, I had to return 2 pairs of shoes that had identical manufacturing flaws, with the toe area on the right shoe coming apart after a few minutes of wear. I've been a loyal NB customer for a long time, but I have to say these shoes are a big disappointment. If they stuck with the anatomical last of the MX20, but added a little more cushioning, they could have a cross training winner."

    Finally

"At the age of 50, my knees cannot take the traditional 0-drop shoe with little\no cushioning. However, I do Crossfit\olympic lifting 3-4 times a week and really like the position that 0-drop shoes put me in. This shoe is a perfect compromise. 0-drop with cushioning gives me the best of both worlds. My knees live to fight another day, but the shoes don't hold me back on the workouts. In addition, they are bomb-proof. I've been using them for about 3-4 months, and they still look new. I'm actually on the site today to buy another pair, not because I need them but because they are so comfortable that I want a pair just to kick around in."

Finally, cushion with a zero drop..

"Excellent fit and great comfort. Went from 4mm drop Minimus Trainer (the black one) to this 0mm drop in size 11 2E width and couldn't be happier as my feet feel great in them. Gone is the pain I had from wearing the wrong size and width and the zero drop is helping to further build the muscles in my feet, calves, and lower back. Coming from Vibram Five-Fingers I didn't think another great shoe company could do a zero drop correctly, but New Balance delivered with this one. Don't waste your time looking for another type of minimal shoe - this is it!"
