This might be our brightest idea yet. The Beacon Jacket helps you run safely day or night. In low light, the bold color really pops. Reflective trim gives 360-degree visibility at night. And in no light, the Beacon literally glows.

Like a beacon of light, the Beacon Jacket features three levels of visibility details, making you visible from dawn to dusk. The low-light visibility comes from the bright color, blending safety with style. The oncoming-light visibility comes from the 360-degree reflective trim, so you’ll catch the light when the headlights and streetlights hit you at night. The no-light visibility comes from the revolutionary glow-in-the-dark technology on the sleeves and back: charge the Beacon Vest under direct light for 10 minutes and you’re ready to go, and ready to glow.
  • Material: 86% Polyester and 14% Spandex
  • A minimal charge to the glow-in-the-dark graphics of 10 minutes under direct light illuminates your performance. There you glow.
  • Drop back hem
  • Glow-in-the dark gradient dot screen print graphic at sleeve, back panel, and logo

"I bought this jacket at New Balance Wilmington, NC. (And if you live locally, do yourself the favor of visiting the store, if for no other reason that to meet the attentive staff.) The high-tech attraction of the jacket is its radiant lighting, powered by 10 minutes or so in the sun or under an electric light. And on that score, it easily lives up to the marketing hype. On my first night run of just over an hour, I was getting hoots from fellow runners, and cars gave me a wider-than-usual berth. And even if you don't charge it before the run, the reflective strips are brilliant, in the true sense of the word. Equally as good is the weather-protection. My first run was at 40oF with clear skies; I wore one dry-tech t-shirt underneath, which otherwise would have left me way too cold. But with the jacket over the t-shirt, my temperature was just right. The fabric is half way between a wind-shell and a fully-breathable dry-tech. Despite my sweating underneath, it did not get wet, but it did keep out the wind. I haven't yet run with it in wet weather, but based on the feel of the fabric, I reckon it will keep me dry for maybe half an hour. And the loose-fit will allow me to add extra layers underneath as the weather gets colder. Add to that the top quality design and manufacturing: a light fabric that is gentle on my aging skin; wind-proof zips, two pockets, a half-collar if you need to zip up. Even if the futuristic fluorescent stripes fade over the years, this is a jacket I'll still be wearing for half the year in 10 years time, just for its comfort and warmth."
