Good shoe for 2E width runners

    Yes, I recommend this product.

"I came from years of running in the Mizuno Wave Riders which had changed their toe box, making their wide shoes TOO wide, but still leaving their normal width shoes too narrow. Anybody else who's had 2E or bigger width shoes can tell you how hard it is to find good fitting shoes, so I was bummed with Mizuno over their change. Also, most wide shoes are butt ugly (plain white, etc) because the shoe companies usually only offer them in the ugliest color to make the sales of those butt ugly colors look better. So I tried the 880s because I really didn't have many other options at my running store. I immediately liked the feel and fit of the shoe in the store. They weren't too cushy, and I felt like I had a good feel for the ground underneath my shoe. And I get the same feel of the road when I run in them. So much so, that I've used them in two very tough trail races, and they've treated me well. I have had a nagging calf injury/pain for the last two years, and so far (knock on wood) in the six months I've been running in the 880s, the pain has gone away and not come back. New Balance also offered the 880 2E width shoes in three different colors, which was the first time I've had the chance to make a personal choice in like... ever. So that was cool. The only reason (and this is probably nit picky) I didn't give the shoe five stars is because I've always wanted a black pair of running shoes, and the 880s don't come in black for 2E width. :-) I highly suggest this shoe if you like to have slight cushioning, but still like to be connected to the road. They are just the right amount of firm for me."

    Iffy quality

"This shoe is very comfortable, the toe box is a little too roomy compared to thr 980s, my regular running shoe. A problem developed on the top and side of the shoe near the toe box on both shoes. The mesh material developed tears on the crease that forms due to normal wear. This has never happened to the 980s which I've wore for many years. I've reported this problem to NB and they were kind enough to offere me future discount coupond. I can not recommend this model."

"I'm nearing 300 miles on this shoe and waited until that kind of mileage to review it. Overall I'm very pleased with the shoe. I switched over from the Mizuno Wave Rider and have been very pleased with the 880v4. I'm a little new to New Balance and tried some other models (890v4, 980FF, etc.) but really found the 880v4 to be the right combination of light weight, stability, and cushion for the daily runs, as well as long 20 milers for marathon training. These are plenty light to do speedwork in as well. Overall a great shoe, in great colors, too."

Good in the cold and wet

"I do like the comfort of the sneaker but the surprising part to me is that it has been very good in wet and cold conditions. It has been a brutal winter in the North East part of the US in early 2015 and this sneaker has been keeping my feet warm and dry for the most part. Right now it is my go to sneaker this Winter."

They keep getting better and better with each run. Best ones yet and I will definitely be buying a few more of these.

"I've been wearing/running with New Balance sneakers for many years. Although I enjoy a few other models this one is the best by far. They were a little stiff with the first few runs better they keep getting softer and more comfortable with every run. Now I can't wait for the "long" weekend run in preparation for my next ½ marathon. I plan on running my first full marathon in the fall. Guess what sneakers I will be wearing :-)...great sneakers."
