I honestly have never been a fan of New Balance since they never felt right for over-pronated arch/in-step. Been mainly a Brooks shoe guy. However, since my sneakers started wearing down, I began having hip pain and muscle spasms. After trying a pair on, they immediately resolved the problem. I continue to stretch and train in them. They are by far the best motion control shoe I have ever worn since 2004.

Over all performance is good for this shoe. I am a very hard person to fit, so I would recommend these for those who have not found an NB shoe that works for them. These fit better than most NB shoes and have room for orthotics. Problem they are a bit bulky, but a trade off for the support they give - better than the 1123. the 1123's were too much support for me and the heel was way too lofty. There is a lack of colors, the white on them makes them appear huge. Please offer dark colors like black and grey, New Balance designers.

I have always worn New Balance and tried a few different styles and inserts to best address my flat feet. While I was overall satisfied with the results, after some additional research on the New Balance site I decided to try the 1012’s. I am very glad I made the change. I did something I would never recommend, I purchased them at an expo the night before the marathon but the sales experience was excellent, the New Balance Rep was very helpful and I decided to wear them the next day for the marathon –without- an insert. It is by far the shoe for me. Comfortable, light, stable and I did not have the occasional hip pain I experience with long distance speed walking. Outside of a little blister that I attribute to newness, no issues at all with this shoe and I like the style and color.

I normally wear a 10.5 D width, and I had to get a size 11 in the 1064's. I bought the 1064's at a New Balance store, which was a pleasant experience. The sales associates were very informative and offered great purchasing advise and sizing recommendations. I normally buy New Balance shoes as I've randomly tried other brands in the past and always learn the hard way that New Balance has always provided the best shoes for my feet. I've owned the 1064's for about 4 or 5 months now, and it's time to replace them. I am very hard on my shoes, as I both run in them and daily wear them. In the time that I've owned the 1064's I would say that they are the best shoes I've had from New Balance to date. I normally like trying different New Balance series, but I will more than likely buy the 1064's again only in a different color. I only wish they had them in black or dark gray.

I have wide feet (11 2E) and a neutral gait. I have always found New Balance to be the best running shoes for me and for 20 years have used many models, usually the cheaper ones found in sporting goods stores. I "splurged" on 993s online about a year ago and loved them right away, did two marathons and my longer training runs in them, but after about 300 miles their cushioning is reduced and the lateral heel is worn almost to the foam. I wondered if any of the other models were even better for me, necessitating a trip to the New Balance Store. I learned that the categories of 'motion control" "stability" and "cushioning" are NOT something that correlates well with how the shoes feel or function on my feet. For me, reading about the 1226 it SOUNDED like the great shoe for me; in reality the "stability" aspect meant serious pronation control with gobs of support not only in the inner heel but also the arch and even forefoot, it felt slighly unnatural. The 1123 likewise had some unnatural characteristics, but it felt well cushioned. I tried the 2002; it was hourglass shaped, and too narrow in the midfoot but very light. Finally, on went the the 1012, which felt like a completely natural neutral shoe with a fantastic fit and cushioning glaore both front and back, like a 993 but better for long runs, and with a little more room in the toebox. I bought those and ordered a 2nd pair online at a large savings. I have run in them and the compare very well with the 993s. I am looking forward to my longer runs in them. I highly advise a trip to a new balance store for anyone looking to try a new or different model, since the online description and customer feedback only gave me a partial, and slightly misleading idea of what I might like. Happy running!
